CARACAS, VENEZUELA AHHHHHH...

I just got home on Friday night. I am staying at my moms house, which to me is the most beautiful house on the planet. I woke up this morning and I got to see the tropical rain falling on this movie like garden. The smell of wet grass, with the sounds of the crickets is just a memory of when I was a child and woke up to this every morning and didn't ever think I would miss it this much. A slice of white hand made venezuelan cheese and an arepa, delicious corn flour patties. Welcome home is all I hear.

LITTLE STEPS: CONNECTED OUR IPAD TO THE TV!

LITTLE STEPS: CONNECTED OUR IPAD TO THE TV!: "We have decided to get rid of cable, not only because we think its expensive but also because we never use it. Maia is the only person to us..."

A VIDEO TO LEARN CONNECT YOUR IPAD TO YOUR TV

Things you need:
Apple Ipad Dock Connector to VGA cable, VGA monitor cable and Audio cable.

This goes in the PC in on your TV, to the apple VGA cable.
This one goes to the Ipad. That is your VIDEO stuff all connected
This is the cable for the audio. It looks like this on both ends. One goes into the audio headphone jack next to the PC in cable on your TV and into the headphone jack of the IPad. Put your tv on VGA and thats it!
Here is a short video to show you how.

CONNECTED OUR IPAD TO THE TV!

We have decided to get rid of cable, not only because we think its expensive but also because we never use it. Maia is the only person to use the cable in this house once a day for an hour. So it was decided that we should not have it. We have an ipad and thought maybe we can get some things online and have Maia watch it on the TV from the IPad. So we went to BEST BUY and got all the cables to make the connection. We bought an Audio cable and VGA cable. Followed the instructions and Voila! I will post a video in a little bit! It was so easy and such a success!

HALLACAS FOR DINNER

Hallacas are a traditional dish that venezuelans have a custom to eat during christmas. Usually families spend between two and three days preparing everything for the day that all the ingredients are put together. First you have to make the "relleno o sancocho" wish is a huge melting pot of all kinds of things from pork to beef and chicken, Vegetables, almonds, olives and the most important thing is the amazing "masa" which is the corn based dough that covers it all up. Families get together and the youngest ones are sat at the table so they can put almonds and olives in. everyone has a task. Also the "hojas de Platano" the plantain leaves are prepared in a way to make them cover up over the mas with the relleno, tied up with a string and boiled for the first time. Here is a picture of my last hallaca of this year until christmas 2011.

It was sooooo delicious!
