OUR LAST TRIP TO MIAMI!

Hello readers! I wanted to show some pics from our trip to Miami! It was so much fun, Maia had her first sleepover at her friend Abby's house and we took her to Disney! She loved it!!!! We went to the beach, went fishing and just enjoyed life sooo much! Now we are back in the city and ready to roll in the New York City Summer!

MIAMI SHOOTS!!!!!!! JUNE 11-24 2011

THE CRIB-A-BOOK by Lara Alcantara Lansberg

Hello All!!!!! I am proud to say that I have ventured into this product full on! I have patented the "Crib-a-book". What is it you think????? Let me explain. In small talk: Maia's favorite thing in her bed. In technical terms a storage unit that fits cribs and transitions into big girl/boy bed usage. It has 4 pockets for storage.

Once your child starts sitting by himself/herself, the wake up in the early morning might be to early in the morning for you. Say, for example.... you want to get an extra bit of sleep so you can actually function as a mom without depending on coffee. This is for you! When I made this for Maia she was actually spending about 45 minutes to and hour just playing with all sorts of things I used to throw in there. Board books, toys to chew on, stuffed animals and even her sippy cup. No milk please, only water. You don't want your kiddies two teeth to fall out so soon! She used this until she was out of her crib and into her new big girl bed when she turned three. Now instead of tying the cute bows on the railing of her crib, I made three wholes especially for hammering into the wall by her bedside, accompanied by cute buttons for decor. She puts her night light in there( Spooka) close to her and her three favorite Junior tag books with the special reading pencil, and water just in case she feels like some water at night. Here are some pics for it. I make them myself and each one is unique. I am about to monogram Maia's.

They come in canvas and green stitching and green buttons, Canvas and pink stitching and pink buttons and canvas and blue stitching and blue buttons..

OFF THE BEATEN TRACK: QUEENS CEMETERY

Hello all! Today was a really different day for me, I'm sure that for you too. But This is my blog, so I will tell you about my adventure in the Queens Cemetery. This is supposed to be the largest in the US. This place is huge! Every time I go to JFK airport I look at it and think I really want to photograph in there. This time I was there, photographing away. It took us about 40 minutes to get to the cemetery. the way there is a little creepy. You take the train and then you walk through this ghost town, under a bridge and them VOILA! there it is. When you see it for the first time so close, you see the skyline of the most wonderful place on earth and its viewers resting in peace with that view. I have to say it is breathtaking.. I know we are talking about a cemetery... you must be thinking. But hey I'm an artist and I am crazy like that. :)

Our way back the other side of the cemetery, towards the G train on Manhattan ave. We walked by the garbage plant, which is very cool looking. and finally got to the G. Which by the way is the train to nowhere. jejejej Sorry to those who have to take it!

OFF THE BEATEN TRACK PART 3, BROAD CHANNEL

Hello all again! Today on our trip we went to a place called Broad Channel. This is a small fisherman's town at the end of Brooklyn farther than JFK airport. Broad channel is a small island, the subway goes on top of the water for at least a mile. We are talking about the subway guys. This is 40 minutes away from Manhattan on the A train. This small town has in total one pizza place, one pharmacy and two deli/markets. Its full of amazing people. This is how amazing... I lost my sweater on the way to our meeting point. When I got there I was looking for the class without a sweater and I could swear it was 45 F. It was cold and foggy and windy. I went to THE deli and got some coffee, the woman said this is my sister and the sister said, do you need a sweater? I said" At this point i'll take anything to make myself a little warmer", she said " meet me at the corner and I'll give you a sweater child". I said "thanks" and asked for a return address, she said "no, no worries I have a ton of them". I mean seriously??? Here are some pics from my trip. Keep in mind this is 40 min away and by subway.
